Stormborn Studios had the pleasure to collaborate with CVD VFX for our very first project Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, a humorous detective show running on BBC Four.
In Season 2, Episode 07 our objective was to develop an effect that allowed the protagonist Suzie Boreton to transform into an evil witch, switching from a mundane outfit into a sinister dark dress. Within 2 weeks we developed a smoke and ember system in Houdini, emitted from a pentagon shape that was exported as an Alembic animation cache from Nuke. Stormborn handed off final beauty renders to CVD VFX who took care of the compositing and integration.
