Stormborn Studios is a Vancouver based visual effects studio focusing on complex sequences comprised of large scale hyperrealistic procedural simulations and dynamics. Led by Visual Effects Supervisors Manuel Tausch and Goran Pavles, Stormborn has contributed to a wide variety of prestigious projects in feature film, animated feature, TV series, commercials, game cinematics and 3D projection mapping. Some of the studio’s recent work include live action sequences for the season finales of Project Bluebook (The History Channel, season 2) and The Man In The High Castle (Amazon Prime, season 4).

Founded in 2017 and equipped with a combined industry experience of over 20 years, Stormborn aims to push boundaries in Visual Effects by leveraging state of the art hardware and technology, passion and creativity. Services offered include Visual Effects Supervision, Compositing, Lighting, FX as well as guiding clients through the creative process from start to finish.

The scope of FX simulation work that Stormborn excels at consists of large scale destruction setups (collapsing buildings, vehicle destruction, earthquakes, etc.), volumetric simulations (explosions, fire & smoke, clouds, etc), fluid simulations (oceans, tidal waves, splashes, art directable small scale liquids), as well as procedural and particle effects.


Manuel Tausch


Manuel Tausch is the co-founder and Visual Effects Supervisor of Stormborn Studios. Deeply driven by his passion for Visual Effects and CGi, Manu enjoys wearing different hats ranging from supervision, producing, pipeline programming to sitting at the box churning out shots.

Over the course of 10 years Manu has amassed an impressive resumé by contributing to over 30 feature films and TV shows, including Skyscraper, Dr.Strange, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers 2, Transformers 4, The Hobbit 3, The Amazing Spiderman 2, The Hunger Games 2 and many more.

While always trying to push the boundaries of recreating natural phenomena in CGI, Manu enjoys building complex and challenging setups. He loves sharing knowledge and is constantly trying to improve his techniques.


Goran Pavles


The desire to use technical skills in a creative environment allowed Goran to work and evolve in the FX world of feature films over the past 10 years. He's worked on the big and the small, as an artist and in leadership positions. He gained experience in a wide variety of FX involved fields such as team management, long and short-term FX preparation and execution as well as software and tool development.
